Beef Round Steak

  • 1 pound beef round steak top round, bottom round, eye of round, or sirloin tip
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth for braising
  • 1 onion onion chopped, for braising
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, for braising

Instructions

  • Tenderize the beef round steak using a meat tenderizer.
  • Season the steak with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the steak on both sides until a crust forms, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • For braising: Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Pour in beef broth, cover, and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours until the steak is fork-tender.
  • Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
